SOPHIE BARNETT believes that the 23-17 win against Sutton & Epsom is evidence to suggest Windsor Dames are improving this season.

A new-look Dames team were beaten in their first three games but regained the winning thread at Richmond last month before following up at Home Park on Sunday.

Barnett admits there are still elements to improve upon but she has backed Windsor to be competitive in National Challenge South East West One.

“It is always good to get a win and it’s definitely the result we wanted,” the Dames captain told the Observer.

“That’s two in a row now so you can see the team is starting to work better. We’re playing much better now than at the start of the season. We’re picking it up again.

“There is always room for improvement and we’re still learning to play with each other. We’re always improving and working on a few things.

“There were a few mistakes around the breakdown and we gave away a few penalties, but the actual performance was much better.

“For most of the game we had the upper hand and spent most of the time in their half.”

Barnett added: “We’re starting to push up the league and it’s still wide open so I’m still hopeful.”

The win sees Windsor Dames move up to fourth place in the league standings with Rosslyn Park next to visit Home Park on November 13.

Windsor turn their attentions to the National Junior Plate this Sunday and a trip to Worthing.
