A HOUSING developer teamed up with a school to put together a bee friendly garden at a development.
Barratt Homes North Thames invited the pupils from Furze Platt Junior School, in Furze Platt Road, Maidenhead to Brunel Gardens, on Malvern Road, to plant a variety of bee friendly flowers.
The pupils begin by enjoying a talk from a beekeeping expert, before taking part in a competition to design and draw a bee friendly garden before putting their new knowledge in to practice.
The winning design was drawn by year five pupil Anna Bodiam, 10, and she and her classmates helped to bring her ideas to life at Brunel Gardens.
Charlene Ayettey, Anna’s class teacher at Furze Platt Junior School, said: “The children really enjoyed their time helping to plant the garden at Brunel Gardens and it was a wonderful opportunity for them to work together to create Anna’s design. Thanks to the talk and the competition they have all learned a lot about bees and how important they are to our eco-system.”
