An old factory, which has been turned into homes, has marked a major milestone by illuminating the sign on top of the building.

Members of Slough Borough Council and Berkeley Homes came together to celebrate another milestone in the ambitious regeneration of the historic Horlicks Quarter in Slough.

The event culminated in the illumination of the iconic red Horlicks lettering on the top of the Factory building.

With all the factory residents’ facilities now complete, Councilors were given a tour of The Atrium, co-working studio and roof terrace.

Elkie Russell, Managing Director, Berkeley Oxford and Chiltern, said: “We are immensely proud of the remarkable transformation at Horlicks Quarter and within the restored Factory itself.

"Many of the historic landmarks have now been restored to their former glory, including the War Memorial, Chimney and Clock Tower."

Berkeley has created a collection of facilities for the residents, including a gym, cinema, concierge and co-working space.

A centrepiece of the refurbished factory is the new atrium where the removal of the core of the building has enabled Berkeley to incorporate a full-height space within the heart of the factory.

Within this space dual aspect apartments across multiple floors - with each featuring floating walkways with retained exposed steels.

Since its construction in 1908, the building was used for the manufacture of the Horlicks malted drink.

Following the closure of the landmark building in 2018, an extensive refurbishment was undertaken and Horlicks Quarter has now welcomed its first residents.
