The number of people arrested for drink driving over the Christmas period has decreased since last year, according to numbers released by Thames Valley Police.
Between December 1 and January 1, 316 people were arrested for drink driving offences, compared to 325 the previous year.
However, the same figures show an increase in the number of arrests made for people driving under the influence of drugs, with 80 arrests made across Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary areas - a 63% rise from last year's 49 arrests.
Roads Policing Chief Inspector Henry Parsons said: "It’s disappointing that we continue to find so many people drink-driving and drug-driving. The effects of it are so dangerous and it’s not worth the risk - there is no excuse for it.
"We remain committed to targeting those who cause death on our roads and make the roads less safe than they should be."
