NEW Slough Jets head coach Craig Moran continues to rebuild the team in mid-season after confirming the signings of Kamil Tvrdek and Andrius Kaminskas.

Czech Import Tvrdek, 30, started the year with Bracknell Bees, where he scored 11 goals in 24 appearances before being released by the club.

The forward learnt his hockey in his homeland and debuted in the 2001/02 Czech Extraliga season with HC Karlovy Vary.

He continued playing in the top two Czech leagues until 2010, when he switched to the top flight in Slovakia before returning home the following year.

“I’m very happy to add Kamil to the squad as we wanted to sign him in the summer but Bracknell got him first,” said Slough supremo Moran.

“I think he will be a big part of the team, scoring points in a big way. After losing Darius Pliskauskas, the minute Kamil became available it was a no-brainer to bring him in.” Lithuanian utility man Kaminskas, affectionately known as ‘Bomber’, will link up with his former international team-mate and new Jets captain Mindy Kieras.

The duo represented their country in Division One of the World Championships and in their homeland for Energija Elektrenai.

Between making his senior debut and coming to the UK with Romford Raiders, Kaminskas played his hockey entirely for Elektrenai.

He signed for the Bees in 2008 before returning to Romford two years later and staying throughout their relocation to London.

Kaminskas suffered what appeared to be a season-ending injury earlier this term, but has now recovered and is relishing the chance to play in the English Premier Ice Hockey League with Slough.

Moran continued: “Andrius is a no-nonsence defenceman who comes highly regarded by Mindy. He’s hungry to play in the EPIHL again, and I have no doubt he will be doing a good job for us and strengthen our defence this year.” On arriving at The Hangar, Kaminskas, 33, beamed: “I’m very pleased and excited to be joining Slough Jets. I’m really looking forward to the weekend games and hope I can live up to the expectations.” The duo could make their debut in the double header against Milton Keynes Lightning this weekend. Slough travel to the Coventry Skydome this Saturday (7.30pm face/off) before returning to home ice on Sunday (6.30pm).
