SLOUGH RFC were beaten 33-22 in an entertaining BB&O Premier game at home to runaway champions Swindon College Old Boys.

The hosts started well and took an early lead courtesy of a Ben Ambrose try, which was converted by Max Miles.

The table-toppers levelled, but Slough immediately went back down the other end for another converted try, Matt Fenwick crossing the whitewash this time.

The Old Boys again hit back to make sure the two sides went into the half-time break locked at 14-14, and they moved in front with a third converted score early in the second half.

A Miles penalty reduced the arrears to 21-17, and they could have gone in front when Sam Rowe made a superb run and found Aman Grewal, only for the wing to put a foot in touch.

Two further tries – one converted – wrapped up the game for the visitors, although Slough had the final word when Jack Jones touched down.

Fourth-placed Slough end their season at Chesham on April 22.

Drifters

ROB Wills ran in a superb hat-trick as Drifters scored in 11 tries in smashing Tadley 71-14 in the BB&O Premier.

Zach Heppner-Logan bagged a brace and Brad Parker, TJ Spellman, Tim Summersgill, Bradley Matthews and Callum Heppner-Logan were among the other scorers.

Drifters – who will finish as runners-up – end their campaign at home to Hungerford on Saturday, April 22.

Phoenix

SECOND-BOTTOM Phoenix put in a gutsy display, but were ultimately beaten 24-18 at home to Crowthorne in the BB&O Premier.

They travel to Didcot for their final game on April 22.

Windsor RFC

WINDSOR RFC gave their South West One East survival hopes a major boost with a bonus-point 36-7 victory against Banbury.

Anthony Andrews’ men earned a 14-0 half-time lead and effectively put the game to bed with two more tries early in the second half.

Banbury gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Jacob Mills crashed over before Ed Phillips converted, but a further converted try and penalty sealed a crucial success for the home side.

Third-bottom Windsor are one point behind Chippenham, the side they visit for their final game of the season on Saturday, April 22.

They will almost certainly have to win to stay up, or ensure they draw with a try bonus point, which could allow Windsor to leap-frog Oxford Harlequins who visit play-off chasing Old Patesians.
