GIUSEPPE Fragola has been named the Windsor Young Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season.

Fragola, 17, was presented with the award by Phil Griffin, sale manager of award sponsors BMW Sytner Maidenhead, at the club’s annual Christmas lunch.

Over 70 club members and guests attended the event to recognise the important award, and to congratulate Fragola on his selection.

Windsor colts head coach and club treasurer, Francis Boundy, said: “Joe joined Windsor at Under-11 and though not the fittest of boys, even from those very early days, always a joy to coach.

“He listened, did what you asked and continued to improve season after season.

“In successive seasons, he was B-team Most Improved Player, B-team Player of the Year, A-team Most Improved Player and A-team Player of the Year.

“He’s hugely popular with the team and has been an ever present on club tours.

“Joe was a regular starter for the colts at prop as an U17 and this has continued at U18 level.

“His scrummaging technique is excellent. This added to his improved fitness now means he’s also a back row option, which is where he players at school [Henley College] and where he has earned a trial for the London Irish AASE programme.

“Through this journey his confidence, both in his rugby and himself, has grown year on year. If anyone represents what rugby can offer a young lad it is Joe.”
