WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club (WSEH) has retained its status as one of the top clubs in the UK in 2017.

On the team front, the club were fourth placed in the Premier Division of the UK Women’s League, retained its position in the British Men’s Athletic League Division One and were champions of the Southern League Division Two West to gain promotion into the top flight for next summer.

The U20/17 team once again made the final of the UKA Youth Development League, finishing an impressive fourth. The U15/13 Team however struggled in their lower matches, eventually finishing fifth in the Southern Premier Division.

At Alder Valley League level, the boys won the Plate Final and the girls finished fourth in the league.

Individual athletes were prominent on the international stage. The year commenced with seven athletes selected to compete in the European Indoor Championships, with Ashley Bryant in the Heptathlon and being named as Team Captain.

Shelana Oskan- Clarke made her mark with her silver medal in the 800m and Morgan Lake was a High Jump finalist.

Others who participated were: Rachel Wallader (Shot), Zac Curran (800m), Ben Reynolds (110m hurdles), and Kerry O’Flaherty.

The World Championships in London saw repeat performances from four of these athletes with Lake making the final of the high jump, and Oskan–Clarke going out in the semi finals of the 800m.

Bryant (decathlon) and Rachel Wallader (shot) also making their international mark.

The European U23 Championships in Poland saw more WSEH athletes climbing the international ladder. Jacob Paul was fifth in the 400m hurdles and Amy Holder ninth in the discus.

More honours accrued in the European U20 Championships in Italy where Jake Norris was seventh in the hammer event.

High success was achieved at national level where the club provided 10 national champions: Senior: Lake (high jump), Oskan-Clarke (800m), Wallader (shot), Amy Holder (discus). U23: Jacob Paul (400m hurdles), Amy Holder (discus), Morgan Lake (high jump). U20: Jake Norris (hammer), Ben Fisher (long jump) and Teepee Princewell (triple jump).
