Slough town FC is Slough’s local football team. It is a semi professional club which competes in the National League South (the sixth tier of English football). They play their home matches at Arbour Park Stadium and their manager is Scott Davies. The club was founded in 1890, when three teams, the Swifts, Slough Albion and Young Men’s Friendly Society merged together. They currently sit 10th in the league on 53 points, with their next match on Saturday 2nd March against Bath City (H).

Recently, the club has seen much success in the league. They have won their last five games, with their most triumph being a 2-1 stoppage-time victory over Tonbridge Angels, last Saturday. However, they were not always destined for success. In the first three months of their campaign (August, September and October), they only won three out of their first 14 games. Luckily, during the next few months, their form drastically improved. Of the 12 games played in December and January, they lost only three of them.

Moreover, they had a positive FA Cup run, enduring five matches of qualifying to meet the League Two side Grimsby Town, in the 1st Round proper. After an entertaining draw at Arbour Park, they headed to Blundell Park (Grimsbey’s home stadium) for a replay. Unfortunately, this match was a heavy defeat 7-2 for the Town but nevertheless they showed great heart and spirit playing as the underdogs.
