Inter County Championship Darts: Buckinghamshire remain unbeaten in Division Two after draw with Gwent

Carol Hodgson is the ladies team manager and saw her B side make an excellent start with a 5-1 win.

The victories came through Rachel Egleton, who was player-of-the-match, in a 3-0 success with a superb 25.91 average in 24, 16 and 18 darts as well as hitting a 180.

Bucks’ other wins came from Gerry Johnson, Lorraine Bowen, Courtney Amos and Dawn Seaman.

The men’s team manager is Tony Hill and he oversaw the B side continue the momentum with a great 8-4 win.

The victories came from Nigel Bevan (14-dart leg), Steve McLeod, Paul Stefanovic (142 finish), Jamie Major (16-dart leg and 137 finish), Kevin Locke (180) and Karl Deacon (180).

Liam Maughan was the player-of-the-match after winning 3-2 with an excellent 28.39 average in 19, 16 and 17 dart legs. Dan O’Connell also won to make the score 13-5 to Bucks after the first day.

The Bucks ladies A-team then won 4-2 through Jane Sobey and Sarah Louise Mallott, who was the player-of-the-match, with a great 24.90 average when winning 3-0 in 23, 18 and 19 darts as well as hitting a 180.

Other wins came from Ann Wakefield, who beat Welsh International Rhian Griffiths 3-1, and Felicia Blay to lead 17-7 going into the final round of matches.

With what looked like an unassailable lead for Bucks, their opponents Gwent showed why they are currently second in Division Two with a remarkable fight back from the men's A team.

Gwent won the first 10 games despite the best efforts of the Bucks A team which included a 13-dart leg from Jack Neary and a 152 finish by Del Pratley.

The Gwent fight back was led by Stephen Clarke with a superb 29.04 average and hitting a 180.

With the match poised at 17-17, up stepped the Bucks man-of-the-match Damien Fyffe to hold his nerve and win 4-1 with a great 26.54 average, winning the game in style with a 130 finish.

The final game of the weekend saw Jonathan Worsley of Gwent win 4-1 and secure an 18-18 draw.

After the fifth round of matches, Bucks have dropped to fourth position in the table with 100 points but only six behind the automatic promotion spot and 15 adrift of leaders Kent.
