BURNHAM Village became the third club this season to reach the quarter final stage in the League Cup on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

Burnham beat higher-league AFC Cressex 3-2 thanks to a Charlie Graves brace plus a goal from Dan Molloy at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground. It is the second time this season the club has beaten opposition from the Premier Division.

Townmead progressed into the last eight in the Presidents Cup after a 3-2 win on penalties against Old Windsor Reserves. The tie finished goalless in both normal and extra time at Wise Lane.

Scott Redman was the man-of-the-match for Townmead following his fantastic performance in the round of last 16 game.

The draw for both the quarter final in the League and Presidents Cup will be conducted during the Management Committee meeting on Thursday 5th March.

Old Windsor reached the quarter final in the Ascot & District Fielden Cup after a 3-1 victory against Premier Division rivals Singh Sabha. Lee Short was the star performer for the victors at the Old Windsor Recreation Ground.

KS Gryf are also in the last eight following their 3-1 win at Slough Heating Laurencians Reserves.

Old Windsor will host Bracknell Town Reserves in the quarter final whilst KS Gryf will travel to either Hounslow Wanderers or Iver Heath.

South Bucks United suffered a blow in the race for the Division One title after a 1-0 defeat against Slough Heating Laurencians A at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground.

The loss means the table toppers failed to build on their four-point lead at the top whilst Slough Heating consolidated third position and reduced the gap to South Bucks to eight points with three games in hand.

St Peters Iver missed out on the chance to bridge the gap on the leaders following a 3-3 draw at AFC Winkfield.

The goals scorers for the visitors to the Locks Ride Recreation Ground were Bobby Cumber, Patrick McPherson and Billy Seagrove. Finding the back of the net for Winkfield were Elton Musekiwa, Ben Jeffries and Martin Donoghue.

The draw means St Peters Iver remain in fourth position and 11 points behind South Bucks but with four matches in hand on the leaders. Winkfield remain second from bottom in the table.

Hounslow Wanderers consolidated fifth spot after a 5-1 win at Stoke Poges Saints – who remain in sixth position. It is a fourth straight win in the league for The Purple Haze.

Hype Train remain unbeaten in Division Two this season following their 2-2 draw with Berks Elite at the Calcot Recreation Ground.

Berks Elite opened a two-goal lead before the half-time whistle but the Blue and Gold recovered in the second half with strikes from Chris Marshall and Aaron Holloway – his first for the club – to share the points.

The draw means Hype Train remain in sixth place in the table but with games in hand on all the sides above them, whilst Berks Elite stand in third spot and 10 points behind leaders Townmead having played one game more than the table toppers.

Fourth-in-the-table Eton Wick missed the chance to bridge the gap on the top three after being held to a 4-4 draw at home to second-bottom Sandhurst Town Under 23s.

The pick of the action this Saturday sees Premier Division rivals Iver Heath and FC Beaconsfield clash for a place in the final of the Maidenhead Norfolkian Senior Cup.

Premier Division club AFC Cressex will hope to avoid a second giant killing in as many weeks when Hype Train make the trip to the Holmer Farm Recreation Ground in the quarter final of the Ascot & District Fielden Cup.
