Reading manager Mark Bowen is set to be handed an injury boost ahead of his sides trip to Barnsley on Wednesday night.

The Royals boss could welcome back both Ovie Ejaria and Sam Baldock after the duo had been ruled out with groin and hamstring injuries.

Asked if Ejaria could return against Barnsley, Bowen said: “I certainly hope so. On Friday, he had an issue with his groin, and he said it was a little better this [Saturday] morning but still really feeling it.

“If it’s an inflammation issue it should settle down quickly with medication.”

Bowen also confirmed that Sam Baldock will ‘hopefully’ be available, following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

“Sam Baldock hopefully will be available for Wednesday. Sam is pain free now, he had a training session on Thursday.

“But with it being a hamstring injury, Thursday was the first session he trained at what I would call 95 – 100 per cent, so it was a massive risk [playing him against Birmingham] with the games that we have got coming up."

Jordan Obita is set to available for selection, but fellow full-back Andy Yiadom could potentially miss out of a trip to his former club.

“Andy was playing most of the second half with a bang on his knee so he wasn't 100 per cent comfortable on Saturday but I hope he will be available to play," said boss Mark Bowen.

"He tried hard in the second half carrying the injury and maybe if he was 100 per cent fit he'd have made more overlapping runs perhaps.

"He carried on though because he's got a big heart and hopefully the injury will settle down well.

"I have no doubt with him he'll be looking forward to the game and he'll be hoping the injury settles down too."

John Swift remains unavailable with a hamstring injury.
