HIGH Wycombe Belles maintained their perfect winning record in the South East division of the Women's Challenge Series after a 52-17 victory at Hackney 2s on Sunday.

The still undefeated Belles arrived at Spring Hill looking to extend their run to six wins against what appeared to be a strong Hackney side.

The hosts struck first after piling phase after phase on High Wycombe and were rewarded with a try early on in the match.

This appeared to kick The Belles into gear and the visitors started to play like a team that cannot be beaten. With Roxanne Humphreys flattening everything in front of her and Lisa Fitzpatrick running around everyone, they were firmly ahead at half-time, 28-5.

Hackney showed great resilience in not bowing down to defeat and came back swinging in the second half to put the pressure on their guests.

This however did not stop both Humphreys and Fitzpatrick from completing their hat-trick and making the task for Hackney incredibly difficult.

The home team fought on until they made it over the Belles try line one more time.

There was then a good team effort from High Wycombe to get the ball over the line but it was held up leading to a scrum, which scrum half Charlie Stearn picked up and pushed over for one of her two tries in the match.

Hackney were not finished though and put the visitors under pressure, forcing them to defend for the last 10 minutes, and pushing over in the last play of the game for a final try.

Rosie Binnie worked well to convert six out of the eight High Wycombe tries for a final score of 52-17.

The win means The Belles are now six points clear at the top of the league table ahead of a visit to Kingsmead Road from fourth-placed Oxford on Sunday 1st December.
