THE Berkshire Schools Football Association Under 16s girls team suffered a 4-2 defeat against an excellent Hertfordshire side in the English Schools Inter-Association Under 16s (U16s) National Cup.

Berkshire played well and, despite being 3-1 down at half-time, came back well before eventually losing.

The Berkshire U16s boys’ team lost against a strong Kent side.

The home team dominated large parts of the first half and went in a goal ahead at the break. Berkshire came out playing some better football in the second half but were unable to find an equaliser and, as they pushed on in the latter stages, Kent scored a second to win 2-0.

The U14s boys’ side lost against one of the best Hertfordshire team in years, according to their manager, at Larges Lane, Bracknell.

The hosts missed a penalty kick in the first half, which was equal in possession and chances.

The Berkshire team got out quickly in the second period and scored almost immediately.

Unfortunately, it seemed to spur on the Hertfordshire outfit who came back to score three goals in response.
