HOLMER Green Football Club hosted 73 teams, 950 adults and 800 children at its annual pre-season grassroots football tournament.

The club is proud of its FA Charter status and Chairman, Rob Shed, said: "The event took place on our carefully manicured grounds and pitches. The playing surfaces were ideal for young feet to hone their footballing skills.

"We wanted this to be a real community event by inviting local residents to watch and support as well as building relationships with businesses and sponsors that are invaluable to us."

There were sides from Middlesex, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire plus local teams from Buckinghamshire.

The event was organised by a team of dedicated volunteers and the club's committee, all with a passion for grassroots football. They helped with the planning, organising, admin, inviting, printing, programmes, advertising and more.

The event was also blessed with a great team of referees.

Shed continued: "All of the club pulled together with dozens of parent volunteers and months of planning from the committee.

"Particular thanks to the coaches that encouraged their teams and the sponsors who contributed to the financial success of the event."

The real purpose of the event was for all participants to have fun and enjoy their football, and judged from the smiles it was mission accomplished.

Holmer Green wishes all teams involved a great season ahead.
