ASSEN hosts round 10 of the British Superbike Championships which includes two more races of the Molson Group British Sidecar Championship and, for the first time this year, the Brian Gray Powerbiking Race Team will have all three sidecar crews in action next weekend.

Championship regulars Brian Gray, from High Wycombe, with Portsmouth-based Jason Pitt are joined by Tommy Philp of Windsor and Shrewsbury’s Tom Bryant, who have a wildcard ride.

Making a return to the British Championship are the Yorkshire brothers Sam and Adam Christie after a successful season campaigning in the World Championship. They will have the advantage as they only competed here a few weeks ago.

After the last sidecar round at Cadwell Park, Gray and Pitt slipped from seventh to ninth in the championship and will be hoping to move up again.

Philp and Bryant will be aiming to put the Thruxton wildcard behind them when Philp put the sidecar in eighth place on the grid only to be force to sit the meeting out when Portsmouth’s Jonny Allum was injured.

Hopefully before then, Philp and Allum will have wrapped up the Bemsee championship this weekend at Snetterton where they have a comfortable lead.

The Christies last race in the British Championship this year was at Brands Hatch where they were on the podium in third place, a feat they will be trying to equal if not better.

They are currently fifth in the world rankings with the final round at Estoril, Spain in October.

Qualifying at Assen starts on Friday 20th September with racing taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.

The team would like to thank Jamie Blanchard of Airport Services of Colnbrooks for helping with ferry crossings, a long standing sponsor of Philp’s father Bill in the world sidecar championship
