WINDSOR Founding Director Kevin Stott has issued a positive bulletin as the search for a new first team manager continues at Stag Meadow, writes Rob Stevens.

Stott has compiled a shortlist of five applicants and has begun the interview process, which he hopes to conclude during the third week in September.

The Founding Director has been impressed with the candidates already interviewed for the vacant hot seat, and he has praised Luke Brooks-Smith for his work as interim manager.

Stott told the Observer: “We had 22 applicants and have come up with a shortlist of five and we’re working through the interview process.

“We interviewed two applicants on Monday, who were both strong candidates, one on Wednesday and the other two probably next week.

“I was hugely impressed by the quality of people we interviewed on Monday. I came away thinking wow. I wouldn't be easy to chose between the two because the standard was so high and I didn't expect that to be honest.

“Assuming we get to where we feel we need to be through the process there will be no need to interview anyone else. Sometimes however what is written in a CV and what is said in an interview are two different things.

“One way or another we will end up in a very good place so it’s encouraging.

“There are some very impressive people about in football but more people that opportunities. There are people with great qualifications but without the opportunity to get some experience. By definition, there are more qualified people than there are management positions

“I would like to be in a position where we can finalise the process in the next few weeks. Certainly by the third week in September we want to be in a position to make a decision."

Stott continued: “The work that Luke has done in the interim has been brilliant. He has allowed us to take our time and try to get things spot on.

“We've never fired a manager, which is probably unique, and want to make the right decision and do out best to get things absolutely spot on for the next person to be here for a long time."

Windsor return to action in the Hellenic League Premier Division with a trip to Tuffley Rovers this Saturday (3pm).
