THE Royal Household ladies continued their unbeaten run in the Royal Shield after a hard-fought away win at rivals Windsor & Eton.

Winning on two of the three triples (55-50) and coming away 8-2 on points to stay top of the table and 12 points clear. Sarah Woolley skipped Betty Crisp and Suzanne Duguid to top rink honours.

A home six-triples men’s friendly with Windsor Great Park on Wednesday resulted in a four rinks to two and 116-85 win for

the Household

. The top rink, Simon Metcalfe, Marc-Leighton Smith, plus skip and captain Alan Speller coasted to a 25-9 success.

secured just two of the 14 points available in their away Kennet League fixture with Reading. The only winning rink was that of George Burbridge, Colin Carson, John Neville and David Dixon (23-18).

The KLV team overcome rivals Windsor & Eton B to secure an 8-2 points victory. Top rink honours went to Graham Crisp, Frank Overman and Neville.

The six-rink mixed weekend friendly with visitors Bishop Duppas saw the Royals win on four rinks but succumb to a narrow seven-shot 111-104 defeat. Securing his second successive top rink of the week was captain Speller, with Graham Stone, Vic Mitchell and Pat Carson (24-17).

An impressive win (22-8) in the county Benevolent Triples against Desborough, Crisp, Burbridge and Carson are into the quarter-finals with a home draw against Tilehurst.
