SUKHI Kang scored more runs than the entire Dinton team put together as Wokingham cruised to a 146-run victory in Division Two of the Home Counties Premier League on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

He made 76 not out in a total of 204-7 declared before Jacob Clark (5-31) and Simon Myles (4-10) skittled out the visitors for a meagre 58.

Without wishing to detract from a solid team performance, it has to be said that Dinton are not the strongest of opposition, but as Oaks skipper Stuart Parsons admitted: "They may be bottom of the league, but were still a good test for us, they didn't make things easy.

"We were happy to put just over 200 on the board and then bowl them out in the way we did and get the 25 points."

There was a debut for left-handed opening bat Ben Green, but the school teacher was dismissed for a six-ball duck.

Next to depart were Parsons and Danny Housego both for 21, leaving their side 65-3.

Michael Bates (17) and Kang lifted the total to 94 before the former was out, while James Bird (19) shared a fifth-wicket stand of 59.

Myles (2) and Stuart Hayter (0) fell in quick succession at 156, but Clark (28no) stayed with Kang until the Oaks declared at the end of 50 overs, a short delay for rain having reduced the match by four overs.

Kang's 76 came off 104 balls and contained two sixes and six fours.

After losing three wickets for just 10 runs, Dinton's remaining batsmen worked hard to frustrate the Oaks and delay the inevitable for as long as possible. In all, they faced 208 balls and scored off just 31 of them, with only Will Fisher (12) reaching double figures before being bowled by Paul Dewick (1-5).

Clark finished with figures of 10.3-2-31-5 and Myles 12-5-10-4.

Parsons added: "Now we have started the timed games, hopefully, we can string some wins together.

"As we showed at Oxford last week and again against Dinton, we are capable of bowling sides out for not a big score.".

Wokingham are away to Harefield this coming Saturday.
