JASON Kempson continued his good form at East Berks by winning the Reading Bowl.

The five handicapper beat a field of 108 on countback with a nett 69 after a birdie on the 18th hole. The runner-up was Jeremy Platt (5hcp) with Nick Robinson (2hcp) third.

Alex Platt (13hcp) won the Saturday stableford with 40 points, one ahead of Alfie Russell (2hcp) with Stephen Ley (15hcp) third on 37 points.

The midweek stableford was won by Colin Armitage (12hcp) with 35 points with Steve Boardman (14hcp) second on 33 points.

A nine-hole midweek stableford competition was also played with Gary Van De Mortel (20hcp) returning 22 points to win by four points from Gary Smallbone (16hcp).

The club's mixed greensomes for the Centenary Cup saw James and Sharon Gibson return 47 points to win by five points from Peter Stevens, the club captain, and Dianne Gibbs.

The ladies contested the Coronation Foursomes Cup with Jayne Mattey and Jane Quinn winning with 34 points, three better than runners-up Karen Boucher and Kate Carter.

Carol Leith (11hcp) won May's ladies Division One medal with a nett 71, while Rebecca Webb (7hcp) took second place on countback from June Ganley (15hcp), both returning a nett 72.

In Division Two, four players finished with nett 76 but Jayne Mattey (29hcp) won on countback from Carol Baldry (23hcp) with Lisa Smith (22hcp) and Helen Brown (27hcp) third and fourth.

The ladies 'section held two nine-hole stableford competitions with Thelma Sibley (30hcp) returning 19 points to win by one from Pat Cox (36hcp) in the first, while the other was won by June O'Farrell (24hcp) with 15 points on countback from Pat Fittus (28hcp).
