SINJAARI looks a horse to follow this season after taking the Maiden Stakes in fluent style at Windsor on Monday, writes Rob Stevens.

The son of Camelot, who won the 2,000 Guineas and Epsom Derby in 2012, was still a maiden after two stars but a well-fancied 11-10 favourite for the 16-runner contest over a mile and a quarter.

Ridden by Oisin Murphy, the market leader tracked the leading pair, before being shaken up to hit the front and staying on strongly to draw clear in the final furlong.

Sinjaari beat Global Heat (3-1) by two and a half lengths with Entrusting (11-2) a further two lengths back in third place.

Norma was a 40-1 longshot but looks unlikely to let her family down having stayed on steadily over a furlong from the finish to take fifth place, beaten seven and three quarter lengths.

Owned and bred by the Normandie Stud, the daughter of New Approach, whose five Group One wins include the 2008 Epsom Derby, looks one for the notebook.

Sinjaari was the second leg of a 12-1 double on the card for Murphy, who 30 minutes earlier won a Class 4 Handicap aboard He's Amazing for Berkshire-based trainer Ed Walker.

The 5-1 chance hung left but was driven to lead before staying on well in the final furlong for a two-length victory over Allegiant (5-1) and Escapability (3-1).

It was a second career win for the four-year-old gelding who had previously one once in nine starts for former trainer, Clive Cox.

Lady Madison was an impressive winner of the concluding one mile Novice Stakes for trainer Richard Hughes and jockey Shane Kelly.

The 7-2 chance was going easily when hitting the front two furlongs out. The daughter of No Nay Never then hung left but was ridden clear in the final furlong to have three and three quarter lengths in hand on Durrell (15-8 favourite) when hitting the winning post.

Racing returns to the Berkshire track next Monday for a seven race card that gets under way at 2pm.

The meeting features a Class 3 Handicap over a mile which has attracted former course winners Masham Star and Elysium Dream.
