WHITEKNIGHTS Bowling Club duo Michael Knight and Robert Newman have been crowned national men's pairs champions.

Meanwhile, Morgan Merryweather added more trophies to her collection at the club's Indoor championships.

She won the ladies’ singles title by beating Annie Byles and the two-wood singles, where she defeated Sandra Kemp.

But Merryweather had to be content with the runners-up prize in the Under 25s mixed singles, losing out to B J Byles.

The ladies’ unbadged singles title went to Jo Sanders with Caroline Mabley the runner-up, while Franco Morana defeated Nick Boyd in the men’s unbadged singles.

Newman won the men’s singles final against E J Frances.

Berkshire’s indoor men’s team finished runners-up in the national Liberty Trophy competition, narrowly losing the final 124-114 to Durham after both sides had each won on three rinks.

They had reached the final, held in Nottingham, by defeating Surrey 115-92, Hampshire 140-108 and Devon 115-114.
