CHALVEY Sports returned to winning form in Hellenic Division One East after a 3-2 victory against Woodley United on Saturday.

The Stabmonks were unbeaten in four previous league matches before a narrow defeat at home to rivals Holyport.

They put that behind them however to claim all three points at Rivermoor and now stand in seventh position in the table.

Woodley were unfortunate not to break the deadlock early on when captain Teddy Thomas picked out Leon Mannion but his goal-bound effort was headed clear on the line.

Chalvey took the lead inside four minutes as forward Jason Marney turned in a left wing delivery at the near post.

The visitors went on to dominate the first half after going ahead and almost doubled their advantage in the next attack when Bryan Taylor hit the right post from 20-yards.

The Stabmonks increased their lead eight minutes before the break as an effort from Tom Jansons found the top left corner from the edge of the box.

Chalvey got a third goal in the 41st minute when Richard Jeffrey netted after Woodley could not clear a right wing corner.

The home team were given a lifeline seven minutes into the second half as Max Laschok was brought down inside the box. Jon Malone took the resulting spot-kick and sent Liam Nash the wrong way with a strike into the right corner.

Woodley ended the game with their best spell of the match and, with the game in added time, an own goal gave then a consolation from a Chase Jewell cross.

Chalvey Sports turn their attention to the Slough Town Challenge Cup and a visit to Arbour Park from Hellenic Division Two East side Langley in the semi-finals this Saturday.
