THE Slough Schools FA has formed an Under-11 district team to compete in the 2018/19 Danone National Cup District competition, writes Rob Stevens.

It is the first time in a number of years that the district team has been formed and it is thanks to District Team Co-Manager, Simon Stannard, who has taught in Slough schools and worked with the Slough Schools FA for many years.

A number of Slough and Windsor schools sent their best boys to trial at Holy Family School back in October.

In this elite group were boys from Dedworth (District School winners), Lynch Hill (Slough School Year Six winners), Paurlant Park (Slough School Year Five winners), Trevelyan (District School finalists) and Priory (District School semi-finalists), plus Holy Family and St Peter's.

There then followed a number of weeks of training at the Eton Willow Bank astroturf pitch, kindly provided by Active Slough, for over 20 boys.

Ten of these players have been selected to form the squad that will represent the Slough Schools FA in the County Round of the Danone Nation Cup on Thursday 24th January.

The squad will play against Wokingham, Newbury and Reading Districts at the The Dome at Reading FC, with the winning district going on to represent the Berkshire Schools FA County in the regional finals.

The squad includes: Leo Murrell, Luca Isernia, Archie Seeburg, Archie McHugh, Sam Yabani, Royus Buterlevicius, Thomas Roberts, Tyler Haruvisi, Dane Vincent Bailey and Alex Szymczyk.
