SLOUGH Town joint-manager Jon Underwood is delighted that keeper Jack Turner has committed his future to the club after signing a contract extension.

Turner was named the National League South Player of the Month for September having kept three clean sheets in four league wins.

Underwood believes the keeper has been brilliant for the Rebels since he joined the club in the summer of 2017, and explained he would be hard to replace.

Underwood told the Observer: “Jack is a very good keeper and his distribution is a big part of how we play.

“He’s a great guy as well and we wanted to get him to commit to the club for a little longer.

“A keeper is a specialist position and if you lose someone like Jack it’s very hard to replace him, so we’re delighted he has committed to us.

“What happened with the mistake on Saturday can happen to a keeper, but everyone talks about that save at Chelmsford which was just incredible.”

He added: “It was a great September and we’ve done a great job to have a fantastic league position. That’s down to the lads and how they’ve played.

“No-one really gave us a chance after losing the two Bank Holiday games and we were brilliant at Eastbourne after having a player sent off inside 10 minutes.

“Cup competitions are completely separate and we didn’t show that same form against Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday, which was a disappointment.”
