WINDSOR Under 9s have completed an unbeaten tour of Devon.

The talented youngsters secured a clean sweep of victories against against Exmouth, Sidbury, North Devon and Woodbury.

The standard was set by openers Tom Mylcreest and Radley Hawes whose running between the wickets allowed the team to get off to a flying start in each game.

They were ably supported by Jeevan and Yuvraj Samra, while Josh Varaitch also chipped in with some valuable runs alongside James Endacott and Cyrus Yousuf.

However it was the bowling and the fielding which impressed the most with a real team effort restricting the opposition to less than 100 runs each time, allowing the batsmen to shine.

Development officer Richard Endacott said: “It is testament to the hard work and dedication of players, their parents and the coaching team that the boys were able to produce some outstanding cricket across the weekend.

“The team are indebted to the support staff of Ian Falconer and Marie Mylcreest, whose hard work behind the scenes enabled the opportunity for these players to experience cricket in the beautiful setting of Devon.”

He continued: “Colts cricket at Windsor is riding on the crest of a wave following a glorious summer at Home Park.

“Nearly 100 five to eight-year-olds participated in the All Stars programme, which was backed by increased numbers across all the age groups, and particularly impressive was the transition many players made from soft ball to hard ball cricket under the tutelage of club coach Mehmood Malik.

“The colts will eventually feed directly into the senior club, with a conveyor belt of talent ensuring we remain at the forefront of local cricket.

“We are also looking to encourage more girls into cricket with more news about that soon.”
