WINDSOR manager Mick Woodham insists he wants to see progression at the club in the Hellenic Premier Division this season.

The Stag Meadow-based club finished in eighth position last season and get the new campaign under way with a trip to Brimscombe & Thrupp this Saturday (3pm).

Woodham told the Observer: “We can’t keep on staying in mid-table in step five, whatever our history is. We all have to believe that the intention is we’ve got to keep on improving.

“The progression has to be there and I have to see it, and certainly the senior players have to see it as well.

“The younger players have a different mindset because they’re here to develop and I get that but, both I and the senior players want to see progression.

“We need to get results on the board and I’ll have to manage that.”

He added: “Brimscombe & Thrupp are a good club and a good team who finished in the top seven last season, so will be difficult.

“We went there last season and played reasonably well but could not get over the line when we expected to.

"We are expecting a big challenge, but it’s more about what we’re doing at the moment.

"The quicker we learn from our mistakes, eradicate them, and give us a chance in the game we will have the guts and determination to build, but it’s one step as a time."
