WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club were well represented in the British Athletic Championships at Birmingham.

WSEH had 20 athletes attempting to secure a place in the UK team for the World Cup and most successful was Morgan Lake who set a new Club Record in winning the high jump with 1.97m.

Shelayna Oskan-Clarke just missed out on gold when finished second in the 800m in two minutes and 1.94 seconds (2:01.94).

Megan Marrs was another having to settle for silver with her second place in the 100m hurdles in 13.37 seconds (secs), while Rachel Wallader secured the bronze award in the shot with 16.71m.

Amy Holder took fourth place in the discus with 52.68m, Jacob Paul sixth in the 400m hurdles on 50.99secs and Hannah Johnson ninth in the javelin with 43.75m.

Amy Herrington and Ben Fisher both finished in 10th position in the hammer (51.34m) and long jump (7.18m) respectively.

Following their victories in the National Championships, Lake and Harris have been selected to compete for the UK in the World Cup competition in London next weekend.

WSEH will have four athletes competing in the World Junior Championships in Finland this week.

Jake Norris and Bayley Campbell will both feature in the hammer, Alex Haydock-Wilson is selected for the 4x400m relay while Josh Zeller will tackle the 110m hurdles.

  • WSEH senior ladies have consolidated their position in the UK Women’s League Premier Division with one match remaining in Southampton next month.

The team assured their status after a respectable fifth place finish in Edinburgh behind match winners Thames Valley Harriers. Hosts Edinburgh and Birchfield Harries completed the podium positions.

The best results for the club were generally on the track. Jatila Reavil-Blake finished third in the B string 100m in 12.18secs, the same position claimed by Jessica Armah in the 200m with 24.97secs.

Laura Wake improved to take second place in the 400m in 56.38secs.

The best of the distance races came from Sarah Chapman with her third in the 1,500m in 4:36.55.

The 400m hurdles delivered good points for the club as Marcey Winter won the B race in 62.47secs.

The best results out in the field came in the hammer where Amy Herrington (54.90m) and Janet Smith (35.64m) both achieved third position.

  • THE WSEH men’s team finished last in their British League Division One match in Bedford having suffered from a dozen withdrawals in the 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Blackheath & Bromley won the match with Harrow and Southampton in second and third respectively.

The poor team result should not detract from the excellent performance by Deji Tobais in the 100m, where his winning time of 10.21 smashed the League Record set some 11 years ago. He also went on to win the 200m in 20.77secs.
