THREE-time champion jockeys Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore will be hoping to break incredible records at Royal Ascot as the world’s most famous flat racing week begins tomorrow.

Dettori, 47, is four victories away from reaching a personal landmark of 60 winners at the Royal meeting, which is the pinnacle of flat racing.

He also requires just one winner this week to take him past Willie Carson and into third place on his own in the all-time list of jockeys.

Moore, 34, is two shy of a half-century of wins at Royal Ascot and has won the top jockey award in seven of its last eight editions, including setting a new post-war record of nine winners for a single Royal Ascot meeting in 2015.

Moore will have six rides tomorrow in his quest to hit a half century of winners at the royal festival, including favourite Rhododendron in the opening race of the week, the Queen Anne Stakes (2.30pm), which forms part of the Mile category in the QIPCO British Champions Series.

The Newmarket-based star will also have big chances for winners throughout the week, most notably through US Navy Flag in the St James’s Palace Stakes tomorrow and Order of St George in the Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday.

Dettori will not be able to reach 60 winners tomorrow as he only has three rides on the opening day, however he is aboard Without Parole who is clear favourite for the St James’s Palace Stakes (4.20pm), which is the second race of the day in the mile category for this year’s QIPCO British Champions Series.

Dettori will also have rides on favourites Cracksman in the Prince of Wales Stakes on Wednesday and Stradivarius in the Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday, which could see a huge battle between Moore (Order of St George) and Dettori (Stradivarius) for the famous trophy.

Total number of wins: Frankie Dettori (56); Ryan Moore (48); Jamie Spencer (24); William Buick (20); Oliver Peslier (16).
