BRITWELL have won the Norfolkian Reserves Cup this season after a 3-1 win against Windsor Great Park last Friday.

The start to the cup final was delayed after it was discovered that Windsor had one and Britwell three players ineligible for the competition.

When the match did get under way at York Road, Britwell were quick to exude their dominate and two goals from Dan Molloy plus a Dan Sears strike secured victory over their East Berkshire Football League rivals.

Britwell player-manager John Brennan told the Observer: “I was very happy with the win as are the boys.

“We always stick to our game system and patterns, and the players that came in did well and done a job to suit our plan.

“Everyone that played knew what we wanted and the boys that filled in did us a treat really. It wasn’t fate, it was just meant to be.

“The cup-tied players probably hurt Windsor more because it was there best player.

“We dominated early on and could have been a couple of goals ahead but missed chances.

“It was one-way traffic after the first goal and we were two goals ahead at half-time.

“I told the boys at the break it was important to get the next goal and we did, and the Windsor keeper did well to keep them in the game afterwards.

“Despite their goal, Windsor didn’t frustrate us at all.

“Our gameplan didn’t suit them. Windsor are a big mob and rely on other teams to play more direct, but we didn’t play like that. We played short and to feet and fed the wide areas.”

Britwell return to action in East Berkshire Division One with a trip to bottom side KS Gryf this Saturday (2pm), and Brennan admits his side will have to a win all their remaining matches to lift the title.

He said: “We’ve won a little silverware now so the pressure is off. The players can relax and express themselves and we’re looking to win the league now “We beat KS Gryf 7-2 at home so I would like to think we can beat them again.”
