READING'S Nick Catlin casts a lonely figure after Great Britain's men failed to reach the quarter-finals of the hockey competition.
The Pinkneys Green-based player battled hard as Britain ended their Pool A campaign with a 1-1 draw against Spain.
Bobby Crutchley's side needed to better New Zealand's result against Belgium to advance, but had to settle for a point after Sam Ward cancelled out David Alegre's opener.
Ashley Jackson thought he had put Britain ahead in the second quarter, but his goal was ruled out.
New Zealand then defeated the previously unbeaten Belgians 3-1 to make certain of their place in the last eight.
"We are disappointed with the result given how we dominated the game," Crutchley said. "We started the tournament far too slowly."
