Changes for a controversial project to add flats above stores in Slough High Street have recently been given the go ahead.

The popular Poundland and JD Sports stores in Slough town centre are set to have 46 flats added to them.

Elsewhere, progress is being made on huge building projects in the Maidenhead area.

You can view the approved applications by typing the reference number in brackets into the relevant council’s planning portal.

Changes for flats plan approved (Slough app P/03079/022)

The developer Slough Property 2 has won approval to make changes to its plan to add 46 apartments to the former BHS building in the High Street.

The development would involve adding a fourth storey to the High Street frontage and rear extensions to create space for 28 one-bed, two two-bed and four three-bed flats.

The project also involves the conversion of the existing first and second floors into apartments as well.

While Slough Property 2 won approval for the development in July last year, it applied to make changes to the layout and alter window locations.

These changes were approved at the borough council’s planning meeting on January 31.

Progress is being made on the transformation of a pub site in Colnbrook to provide a cafe and new homes.

The Star and Garter in Park Street has been closed since 2015.

The developer Leisure Inc has won permission to convert the current pub building into a five-person home of multiple occupation, and construct a new building made up of a  coffee shop at ground level with two one-bed and four two-bed flats on the first and second floors.

Now, Leisure Inc has submitted details relating to an ecological landscape plan and management and its ecological mitigation and management plans as a condition of the project approval, which was granted in July 2018 (reference P/14825/008).

The team behind the huge The Landing development in Maidenhead has had safety details for the buildings that make up the project approved.

The Landing was approved on outline containing hundreds of flats and thousands of metres of retail and commercial space in 2019.

Building on the project has since gone ahead, with a condition of the approval being that a ‘remediation strategy’ for the buildings be provided to Royal Borough’s planning department.

This remediation strategy for buildings A, B, C and D in the project was approved on February 1.

Changes have been made to an outline plan to build 79 homes at a former RAF barracks and business park in White Waltham.

Grove Park was used as RAF barracks for the nearby airfield during the Second World War before being turned into a business park.

But since 2021 there has been a project to knock down the commercial buildings and turn the site into housing instead.

Now,  developer Shanly Homes has won approval to change access arrangements, visitor parking and open space provision for its project to build 79 homes at Grove Park.
