The deadline to choose primary schools is fast approaching, with children getting ready to start the first stage of the education journey.

Parents are asked to choose the primary school for their child by Monday, January 15.

Missing the deadline means children are less likely to be offered a place at their chosen school.

To help in your decision, the Government has released the first primary school performance data since the COVID outbreak.

Alongside Ofsted results, these figures are some of the key markers to assess suitability when choosing a primary school for a child beginning their education.

The figures show how well the students performed in their exams last Summer and also reflect on the progress made throughout the primary school years.

The Key Stage 2 exams are taken by final year primary school pupils.

Top performing school was the Iqra Slough Islamic Primary School, an Ofsted-graded outstanding school, where 87 percent reached the required standard in the 3Rs, with more than a quarter reaching the higher levels.

This is a Slough Borough council-run maintained school.

The four other primary schools in the top-five performing schools across Slough are regarded as academies. Academies receive funding directly from the government and are run by an academy trust.

The second top-performing school is Castleview Primary School located on Woodstock Avenue.

83 percent of pupils conducting their Key Stage two exams last Summer met the expected standard and a third of them reached the higher standard in reading, writing and maths.

Khalsa Primary School performed third top performing school with 78 percent of their 68 students meeting expectations at the end of key stage two.

Western House Academy and The Godolphin Junior Academy came in fourth and fifth place.

Overall the average SAT result for Slough was four percentage points higher than the national average.
