A two bedroom end-of-terrace home is set to be built in Slough after amended plans were submitted to address parking concerns.

The new house was approved for Goodman Park after a previous application at the site was refused.

Planning officers had deemed the original application that it “does not provide adequate car parking” and could “erode the open qualities of the undesignated public open space to the north and north-west of the application site.”

But a fresh application submitted, which attempted to address the prior concerns, has now been approved.

The updated planning statement reads: “The design and size of the dwelling remains the same but the rear parking area has been amended within this proposal and the red line around the application site corrected.”

It adds: “The proposed site layout includes the provision of two car parking spaces to the rear of the site. The spaces would be accessed via the existing garage court and the applicant has demonstrated that adequate rights of access exist.

“The spaces have been designed so that no existing parking spaces will be impacted by the proposal and thereby displaced.”

The site falls in a residential neighbourhood with several blocks of terraced houses.

While the new proposals were approved, conditions for approval included a requirement for development to start within three years and that the materials should match the existing design “as closely as possible.”

The planning statement adds: “The proposed development would not erode the open qualities of the open space adjacent to the site and would not result in material harm to the character and appearance of the site or the visual amenities of the area.

“The proposal would not have a detrimental impact on the amenities enjoyed by the occupiers of neighbouring dwellings, sufficient amenity space will be retained at the property and is proposed for the new dwelling, and the proposal would not result in any adverse highway or parking implications.”
