Two Slough parks have announced they have closed early after wind warnings in the area.

Langley Park announced its closure at 2:40pm today (January 2) following amber weather warnings enforced by the Met Office for wind.

A spokesperson for Langley Park said: "For your safety and the safety of our teams working onsite, please do not enter the parks during the closure.

"Thank you for your co-operation."

Black Park Country Park also announcement it's closure at 2pm today.

It comes as winds have caused disruption in the area, including a tree falling in Horton Road in Colnbrook.

Wind gusts of 50-70mph are expected in the area until approximately 8pm tonight.

Met Office's four tips for staying safe in strong wind

  • Protecting your property from damage and other people from injury. Check for loose items outside your home and plan how you could secure them in high winds.
  • Plan your journey ahead of time and allow for delays, check for updates regularly, pack essentials and ensure your phone is charged
  • Drive slowly and be cautious of overtaking. Hold the steering wheel firmly. Allow extra room for cyclists, motorbikes, lorries and buses
  • Stay indoors as much as possible. If going out and about try not to walk close to buildings and trees
