The new year is here and many will have seen in 2024 with celebrations and parties - but even on New Year's Day you may feel the need to grab a thing or two from the local shop.
This year more supermarket brands than ever have decided to give their staff more time off, with many closing on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Meanwhile other big brands have reduced working hours.
If you are planning to go shopping today it might be useful to know which chains will be shut so you don't have a wasted journey.
Here are some of the supermarkets that will be open on New Year's Day.
Asda
Asda is one of several supermarkets to reduce their working hours on New Year's Day. Instead of its usual 7am to 10pm, Asda will be welcoming customers in between 9am and 6pm.
Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's are to open from 8am to 6pm, with Sainsbury's local store operating from 8am to 8pm.
Tesco
On January 1, Tesco have announced that they will be open from 9am to 6pm.
Morrisons
Morrisons will be opening from 9am to 6pm to customers.
Iceland
Iceland stores are open on New Year's Day, with reduced opening times. These are said to differ from store to store.

Lidl
Lidl has stated all of it's stores will be closed on January 1.
Waitrose
The majority of Waitrose stores will be closed on New Year's Day.
M&S
M&S has confirmed it will be closing its doors on January 1.
Aldi
Aldi has confirmed all of it's store will be closed on New Year's Day.
