A dog and cat rescue centre has said it will be making Christmas memorable for the animals in its care.

While Battersea Old Windsor aims to make every day special for its animals, they go above and beyond over the festive period.

Dedicated staff and volunteers will be working over Christmas to spread cheer and ensure the animals needs are met.

Christmas Day at Battersea Old Windsor will start out like a normal day, consisting of cleaning kennels and cat pens, feeding, walks and playtime, but with some extra cheer and seasonal surprises in store.

Hazel Adams, Cattery Team Leader at Battersea Old Windsor, said: "Christmas day starts a lot like a normal day in our cattery and kennels, but we make sure that there are lots of extra jovial moments to make it memorable, whether that’s an extra treat to tuck into or a new toy donated by our generous supporters.”

The dogs and cats at Battersea are treated with lots of festive fuss and have plenty of joyful moments throughout the day to make it one to remember, including a leisurely Christmas walk for the charity’s canine residents and lots of warm laps for the animals to snuggle up on after a day of festivities.

Hannah Gee, Dog Rehoming Team Leader at Battersea, added: “As well as spending time with the animals in our care on Christmas Day, it’s also great to spend some quality time with colleagues.

"There is a really lovely atmosphere here at Battersea Old Windsor on Christmas Day, everyone is feeling very festive and looking forward to treating the dogs and cats with lots of love and fuss.

"All of the staff and volunteers working on the day also make sure we get together to enjoy the day.”

Animals are cared for at Battersea’s three centres 365 days a year, and Christmas Day is no exception.
