Slough Borough Council schools have been ranked from best to worst with a number of factors considered including grades and future prospects.

It comes as the Government released the first secondary school performance data since the Covid outbreak.

The figures show how well schools performed in the GCSE exams and whether the pupils stayed in education or went into employment,

GCSE exams are typically taken by 15 and 16-year-olds, with students encouraged to participate in EBacc, the English Baccalaureate which includes a set of subjects at GCSE that keeps young people’s options open for further study and future careers.

These include English language and literature, maths, the sciences, geography or history and a language

The top performing school in Slough was Eden Girls' School, an Ofsted-graded outstanding school, where 89 per cent participated in EBacc and 93 per cent stayed in education or went into employment following the exams.

Nearly three-quarters of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSE.

Number two was Langley Grammar School, where 74 per cent participated in EBacc and 97 per cent stayed in education or went into employment following the exams. Nearly all students achieved a Grade 5 or above in English and maths with 98 per cent of students at this standard.

The school has also been rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

On the other end of the scale, Wrexham School and Beechwood School both performed well below average with approximately 20% of pupils at the two schools achieving grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSE.
