Two further Slough councillors have signed an open letter calling for Labour to support a ceasefire in Gaza.
Councillors Naveeda Qaseem and Fiza Matloob have now added their names to the plea from Muslim Labour councillors to Sir Keir Starmer and his deputy Angela Rayner asking their party to back an end to the violence.
Zaffar Ajaib, Sabia Akram, Maroof Bibi Mohammad and Mohammed Nazir all signed the initial letter, which has now amassed more than 250 signatures.
The letter reads: “As Labour Party councillors, as members, and as members of the Muslim community we urge the Labour Party to urgently adopt a position of calling for an immediate ceasefire, calling on the UK government and the international community to act upon this proposal to save innocent human lives.”
Sir Keir released a statement yesterday (October 25) in which he called for humanitarian aid to reach those in need and for a resumption of work towards a two-state solution.
