Students will be able to have their voices heard on climate issues after it was selected to take part in a parliamentary youth engagement scheme.

Langley College is one of six schools across the country chosen for the programme with the House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee – which deals with climate change and the environment.

The scheme will see the school’s students feed into the committee’s electric vehicle inquiry, as well as meeting virtually with members to discuss issues close to them and their communities.

Committee chair Baroness Parminter said: “I was very impressed by the high standard of applications we received from schools and colleges across the country and congratulate the successful institutions.

“I look forward to meeting and working with the students over the duration of the programme. They will play a vital role in informing the committee of the environmental issues that are important to them, as we continue our journey to achieving net zero by 2050.”

Baroness Parminter will be visiting each of the schools on the programme over the course of the year.
