Slough will be marking Black History Month with a day full of "educational" speeches and performances.

Slough BID is working alongside RaCExpert UK and The Brickhouse for this year's celebrations.

The organisers are boasting an "unforgettable day" filled with educational seminars, mesmerizing lectures, and vibrant showcases from talented speakers, entertainers, artists, and local black businesses.

A spokesperson from Slough BID said: "We are honoured to unite and recognize the rich tapestry of Slough's Black community, highlighting their contributions and excellence."

The event will take place on Saturday, October 14 from noon to 4pm in the Observatory Shopping Centre outside Primark.

Nzinga Orgill from Race Expert UK passionately expresses, "Every community is a tapestry of beauty and richness, deserving of celebration. Let's celebrate Black History and come together to embrace the shared history that belongs to all of us."

Rifat Iqbal-Khan, Marketing & Events for the BID, added: "This family-friendly celebration will feature face painters, music, inspiring speakers, market stalls, and delicious food, reflecting our commitment to fostering inclusivity and unity."

This event marks the kick-off for Black History Month celebrations, inspired by historian Carter G Woodson.

This year's theme is "Celebrating our sisters, saluting our sisters, and Honouring Matriarchs of Movements."
