From the greatest height climb in 24 hours to the Tic tok star who has wowed audiences on his scooter, Berkshire is full of loads of talented individuals with even bigger goals.

Some weird and wacky records which have several attempts throughout the years have been broken.

All rules are meant to be broken – right?

And Berkshire residents are some of the best rule breakers throughout the country.

As some new worldwide records have been published, we look back at what records have been broken in Reading, Bracknell, and Slough.

Slough/Maidenhead

The youngest female with a full beard

Harnaam Kaur from Slough broke a World Record attempt in September 2015 for being the youngest female to have a full beard.

The Slough resident is now a body positive and anti-bullying activist whose portrait has been part of the #Project60 campaign.

Born on 29 November 1990, Harnaam first started to notice that she was growing facial hair at the age of 11.

The fastest half marathon in breathing apparatus (SCBA)

In 2017, Scott Butler completed the Maidenhead Half Marathon whilst wearing a breathing apparatus (SCBA)

He completed it in the fastest time of 2 hours 21 min 27 secs.

When he was asked why he wanted to attempt the record Scott said: "One life, live it".

In December 2014, big-hearted bikers took part in The Reading Toy Run delivering 1,735 toys.

In 1985, just 18 bikers took part.

Bracknell

Greatest height climbed on a climbing machine in 24 hours

In November 2007, Marc Rose and his colleagues at Bodyworks Gym attempted to climb the greatest height on a climbing machine.

Taking place in Bracknell, the world-record attempt saw the gym-goers take it in turns on the VersaClimber machine over 24 hours.

In this time the team of 12 climbed a remarkable 70,299.82 metres (230,642 ft), setting a new world record at the time.

Fastest 360 degrees flip of a car

This world-record was not set in Bracknell but was set by three members of Bracknell rugby team.

Jervis Manupenu, Jonny Mirza and Pete Hill managed to flip a car 360 degrees in just 5.25 seconds in April 2009.

They set the world-record at Pinewood Studios competing against three wrestlers.

Longest marathon playing Subbuteo

Travel back in time to March 20, 1989 and you will find Graham Larkin and Kieran Mulrooney playing Subbuteo, the tabletop football-flicking game, at the RAF Staff College in Bracknell.

The pair played the popular game for an incredible 100 hours and one minute straight.

Setting the world record, the duo played between March 16 and March 20.

Fastest time to scan and bag 50 shopping items

Ange Couch set the world record for the fastest time to scan and bag 50 shopping items at a Tesco store in Bracknell in March 2009.

Ms Couch packed the items in a rapid two minutes and 22 seconds.

She was competing against three others as part of the Guiness World Records Smashed event.

Fortunately for Ms Couch, all of her rivals were disqualified because they either scanned items twice or failed to scan an item.

Most bo staff rotations around the body on one leg

Chloe Bruce set the record for the most bo staff rotations around the body on one leg in one minute (51) in Bracknell in September 2018.

The impressive feat was achieved as part of filming for the CBBC series Officially Amazing.

Wokingham man breaks Guinness World Record in Windsor

A Wokingham man is now the proud owner of a Guinness World Record (GWR) after completing 22 Olympic distance triathlons in seven days in memory of his brother.

Mark Jones, a 44-year-old gardener undertook the challenge in Windsor between July 18 and 24.

The triathlon included 33km of swimming, 880km of cycling and 220km of running all within one week.

The previous record stood at 20 triathlons, but following evidence scrutiny, Mark was awarded the record in October, having beaten it by 10 per cent.

Tik Tok star breaks world record set by scooter legend

An 11-year-old scooter superstar from Bracknell has made history this year after breaking two world records previously held by scooter freestyle legend ‘Kota’ Schuetz.

Tyler Hainey, who has been going from strength to strength in the scooter community went viral on Tik Tok when he landed his very first double backflip in October 2021.
