STUDENTS in Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor were celebrating GCSE results day on Thursday, August 24.

Proud headteachers across the town praised students for "incredible" results and overcoming a challenging few years.

Speaking to students on Thursday, Ciran Stapleton, headteacher at St Joseph's Catholic High School said: "Seeing our students celebrating this morning was an incredible experience for all of us and it’s hard to say whose smiles are bigger – students or staff!"

GCSE results have returned to ‘normal’ after the pandemic, the Department for Education has confirmed.

The proportion of entries achieving top grades (grade 7 and above) and standard passes (grade 4) are consistent with 2019, as grading moves back to normal.

This year’s results show that 70.3% of entries received a grade 4 or above – a standard pass – which is up from 2019.
