THE deadline is approaching for an upcycling competition that is encouraging residents to repurpose pre-loved items.
Slough Anti-Litter Society and Slough BID are calling all creative sewists and budding fashion designers to enter the Slough Fashion Upcycle Competition.
The theme is ‘From Litter to Fashion’ with the aim of creating a new wearable garment from pre-existing clothing.
Tierza Meinema from Slough Anti-Litter Society previously told the Observer: "The trend to reuse, resell and buy second-hand is growing nationwide, and we see this locally.
"We want to give everyone the opportunity to engage in making Slough a greener and cleaner town."
Budding applicants are asked to send photos and videos of their garment by midday on Saturday, August 26.
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: Visual Impact, Design Concept, Construction Technique, Creativity and Use of Recycled Materials.
15 finalists will be chosen to show their garments on the Upcycle Runway on September 16 in the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre.
