A music festival is returning to Slough for the first time in eight years.

Slough Mela, which boasts it is the UK's largest Mela experience, is coming to town on Sunday, August 6.

"Mela" is a type of fair or festival, with Slough Mela aimed at celebrating culture and diversity.

Managing director of Asian Star Radio, Ray Siddique, who is helping host the event said: "Slough Mela is a family festival targeting largely local residents.

"There hasn't been something here for some time - since the pandemic.

"This event should hopefully give the opportunity to local people to come and have a great day out."

The event, run by Bright Star Events, will feature a fun fair, picnic area trade standards, a food court and live music.

This year visitors can expect a host of International Celebrities, Singers, Dancers and DJs - performing across two stages.

The event was last held in 2014 when it proved to be extremely popular across the UK.

Ray added: "Our focus is on helping local businesses and giving them the opportunity to come along, have a great day and make extra money."

"Slough Mela offers the most amount of live music compared to any other Mela event in the country. We will have around 20 acts from start to finish.

"We are very proud to be hosting it and that we have got the opportunity to stage it after such a long time.

"It is all about giving back to the community."

Slough Mela has the capacity for 15,000 attendees and will be hosted at Upton Court Park.

The event will open at 12pm, running until 8:30pm.
