A Slough pub has been awarded the top rating for their outstanding level of hygiene and food management.

The Moon and Spoon, located on high street, received a five-star rating when they were visited by Food Standards and Slough Borough Council on Thursday, June 22.

Following their inspection in 2019 this was to ensure that their standards are up to scratch and their premises are hygienic.

The pub’s manager, Mensah Richardson, said: “We are delighted that we have gained the top rating and I’m sure our customers will welcome the news too.

“Standards of hygiene at the pub are of paramount importance.

“All of the staff work hard to ensure that the pub offers its customers the highest levels of hygiene at all times and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised with the five-star rating.”

The Wetherspoons owned pub is a popular eatery in the area and pride themselves for the food and service that they offer.

Prior to the inspection they were part of the council’s Scores on the Doors programme which aims to highlight hygiene standards in Slough pubs, bars and restaurants. This also includes takeaways and canteen establishments.

During these food hygiene inspections, judges examine how hygienic and well-managed the food preparation at the premises is. Each business is highlighted against the same criteria namely; hygiene structure and confidence in management.

Hygienic food handling includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage.

The management of food safety, scored as ‘good’ by inspectors ensures that systems are in place to ensure that food is sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

According to pub manager, Adam, employees Charlotte Branscombe, Amy emery, Mensah Richardson put in a great deal of work prior to the inspection.
