A DRUG dealing duo have been jailed for a string of offences after a vehicle raid found “large amounts of drugs.”

Malik Khan, aged 34, of Australia Avenue, Maidenhead, was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison and Zaheer Shabbir, aged 34, of Sawyers Close, Windsor, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, June 15.

This comes after an incident on March 7, 2018, when officers stopped a vehicle Khan and Shabbir were in in Shoppenhangers Road.

Officers arrested them as they had large amounts of drugs and cash, and even more was found after further searches.

They were charged on 8 July 2019.

According to Thames Valley Police, the defendants “ran a cut-throat defence, blaming each other and other people” for items found during the drug raid.

Khan was found guilty of one count each of conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely heroin, conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine, possession of criminal property and possession of a controlled drug of class B, namely cannabis.

Shabbir was found guilty of one count each of conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely heroin, conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

Investigating officer detective constable, James Doel, said: “It is a great result for Malik Khan and Zaheer Shabbir to be found guilty by a jury after such time, partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This case has been five years in the making and the result signifies the significance of the stop at the time.

“I’m glad the jury saw through this and dealt with the facts presented to them, finding them guilty.

“We will not tolerate drug-dealing on our patch and I hope this sentencing shows we will robustly disrupt offenders and put them before the courts.

“But we need the public’s support to tackle illegal drug-dealing so please report any suspicious activity or intelligence to us, either directly or via Crimestoppers.”
