The iconic Steam Locomotive – The Flying Scotsman rolled through Berkshire to mark its 100th birthday.

Residents spotted the locomotive as it stopped off at Slough and Reading stations yesterday (June 7) to pick up passengers.

It was also seen flying through Wokingham and Newbury.

Sabrina caught the moment it stopped at Slough train station.

While Paul King caught the train as it went through Twyford on its way to Reading.

Another video shared by Jamie shows the train going past Maidenhead United.

The famous steam train was dubbed the Flying Scotsman as it was officially the first locomotive to reach 100mph, operating the daily 10am service between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley.

Organised by the National Railway Museum, The Railway Touring Company is running a series of mainline steam tours.

On Wednesday, the Flying Scotsman set off from London Paddington at 7:15am, stopping at Slough at 7:45am and Reading at 8:15am before continuing up to Cardiff.

The route followed the old GWR mainline tracks, later going through the Vale of White Horse to Swindon continuing on to the South Wales Direct line through the Alderton and Chipping Sodbury Tunnels towards Bristol Parkway.

From Bristol Parkway passengers will travel through the Severn Tunnel towards Newport, where the triangle at Maindee will be used to turn the train, with a diesel locomotive taking over for the run through Newport to the final destination in Cardiff.

Passengers were then given three hours to explore Cardiff, before returning to the train.

The Flying Scotsman later reentered Berkshire, dropping passengers off at Reading at 9pm and Slough at 9:25pm before terminating in London Paddington.

When can I next see the Flying Scotsman in Berkshire?

The Flying Scotsman is set to return later this month.

On Wednesday, June 21, the Flying Scotsman will return as the Salisbury Express journeying from London Paddington.

Locals will once again be able to see the locomotive as it heads to Slough and Reading before continuing to Salisbury.

From Reading the locomotive will join the Berks and Hants line which runs through rural countryside, passing through Newbury Racecourse and then Newbury.

It will then continue westwards, travelling beside the Kennet & Avon Canal, and climbing to Savernake Summit, before passing through the Vale of Pewsey, with views of one of the famous Wiltshire White Horses approaching Westbury.

From Westbury it will continue on a circular tour along the edge of Salisbury Plain through Warminster to Salisbury, where passengers will have four hours to explore.

The train will then leave Salisbury, steam hauled by Flying Scotsman in the afternoon where it heads towards Romsey and Southampton before returning to Reading via Winchester and Basingstoke.

It will return to Reading and Slough before coming to a stop at London Paddington.
