A supermarket giant has delayed the closure of their store in Queensmere Shopping Centre.

The Observer previously reported that Iceland would close its store in Queensmere on June 5, with a new store opening on Slough High Street the following day on June 6.

However, the store has now announced that there has been a delay in the move.

A spokesperson for Iceland said: "The Slough store opening has now been moved to June 20."

A sign seen on the doors of the new store confirms this, stating that it will launch at 8am.

The news comes after Iceland made the decision to close the store in May.

It coincides with the long-awaited redevelopment of the centre, which began in January when the western side of the site was closed to the public, with shops either closing or relocating.

A spokesperson from Iceland said: “Across Iceland and The Food Warehouse we have a portfolio of over UK 1,000 stores and continually review the retail experience offered to our customers as local shopping patterns change and shop leases expire."

The new store will be opening in the old Bargain Buys unit.
