A historic pub in Slough is due for a makeover according to plans submitted this week.

The Long Barn, a pub that dates back to the 1600s is set to get refreshed signage thanks to its owners Greene King.

Over in Langley, the home of a long running alcoholic drinks business could be replaced with a modern building providing four flats and updated commercial space.

In the Royal Borough, a developer has applied to make changes to a development of 79 homes at village industrial estate, and a village could be getting a new floodlit games area.

An application for new signage has been submitted for The Long Barn, a historic pub located off Cippenham Lane in Slough.

Although the pub is owned by Greene King, it is currently run by the Meet & Greet pub company which holds a number of music and other events throughout the year at The Long Barn.

A spokesperson for Greene King said the pub has been leased to Meet & Greet as part of its Pub Partners division.

The spokesperson added that 1,000 pubs are part of the Pub Partners division, alongside the 1,600 pubs directly managed by Green King.  

The makeover plan involves the black and gold branding being retained and updated according to advertising plans.

The pub is Grade II listed as it dates back to the 17th century with 18th century additions.

Replacement of drinks business with mixed use building (P/00901/014)

A landowner has applied to replace the base of the Drinks Direct business at 256, High Street, Langley with a new mixed use commercial and residential building.

The existing building, called Edwin House, is two-storeys tall and is clad in pebble dash.

The plan would see Edwin House replaced with a three storey building with commercial space on the ground flour and four two-bedroom units contained on the first and second floors.

Six parking spaces would be provided, with four to the rear of the site being electric vehicle ready, and two to the front of the building,

Shanly Homes has applied to make changes to its plan to build 79 homes and a nursery at the Grove Park Industrial Estate in White Waltham.

The developers won outline approval to replace existing one and two storey commercial buildings with homes on the site in February 2021, with appearance and landscaping plans approved in February this year.

Changes applied for recently relate to an adaptation of the access and the removal and replacement of one tree which a planning agent stated is in a ‘poor condition’ following a lightning strike.

Sunningdale Parish Council has applied to install a new multi-use games area (MUGA) at Broomhall Recreation Ground.

The MUGA would replace ‘end of life’ play and fitness equipment and some grassland located next to existing tennis courts.

The plan also involves the installation of a new junior and teenager playgound, which would be situated between the proposed MUGA and the existing playing field.
